Intel 45nm processor name and price roundup
New processor, new price and new logo, starting from $163.
We have known that Intel’s first 45nm processor will be available on November 11 2007. The first one hit the market will be quad-core only: Yorkfield for desktop and Harpertown for server. To distinguish with the current 65nm product line, Intel will use a new naming schema for the 45nm processors: quad-core Yorkfield will be QX/Q9xxx and dual core Wolfdale is E8xxx.
The initial release Intel will make on Nov seems for enthusiasts only, as there would be only one model, Core 2 Extreme QX9650. It will remain 3GHz, with 1333MHz FSB, 12MB(6MBx2) L2, and Intel VT/SpeedStep/x64/NX support, pretty the same as the current QX6850 except for a larger L2.
According to HKEPC, three more quad-cores will follow, include Q9300, Q9450 and Q9550 in Jan 2008, clocking 2.5G, 2.6G, 2.83G respectively. The Q9300 is a stripped-down version with 6MB (3MBx2) and the same price tag with the current Q6600.
Also, there will be three dual-cores, E8200, E8400 and E8500, at 2.66G, 3G and 3.16G.
