By default, WinRAR will only associate files with extenions RAR, R00, R01 till R29, how about the rest?
WinRAR switches to new name scheme for quite some time, which use part1.rar, part2.rar etc. as extensions. However, you can find lots of files, still compressed using the old name, extensions from R00 to R99(then S00 to S99 and so on).
By default, WinRAR will only associate till R29 and left the rest as “unknown file type”. Here is the simple tip to solve this issue and let RAR handle them all.
To do this, just open a command prompt and type
for /L %d in (30,1,99) do assoc .r%d=WinRAR
This will associate R30, R31 till R99 with WinRAR.
If you are using Vista, you need to do this from an elevated command prompt, refer to my earlier post for more info.

Installing SP1 requires lots of space, and might hinder many from adopting the latest update.
Per Microsoft’s claim, installing the service pack will require a large amount of free disk space (7 GB for x86 and 12 GB for x64). From my own experience, at least 6GB is required to install SP1 on x86. However, its possible to experience SP1 with less effort–only 3G is required now.

Another geeky prank from MIT.
Back in 1999, Massachusetts Institute of Technology students decorated the campus’ Great Dome to look like Star Wars robot R2D2 in celebration of the legendary film series’ first prequel in 1999. But Star Wars prequels are so last decade. These days, it’s all about the much-hyped Xbox 360 title Halo 3. And why prank your own campus when you can pull a fast one on those snotty Crimsons next door?

Microsoft is currently working on the hilarious bug.
Yesterday evening we were alerted to an issue in Excel 2007 (and Excel Services 2007) involving calculation of numbers around 65,535. Further testing showed a similar phenomenon with 65,536 as well. This issue only exists in Excel 2007, not previous versions.

In a bizarre move Aurora Technology the owners of the King of the World MMORPG has taken the unusual step of banning men who play women characters but the ban itself does not stretch to women playing men.
If you want to play as a woman now in game you have to prove you are a women via web cam. This is something that people ask for in many mmorpgs I myself have seen people say people who play women in EVE online as being some kind of degenerate but how long can a policy of verification by web cam last since its so easy to get around it doesn’t seem to solve much and is an insult to many.”
Aurora Technology is a subsidiary of Shanda (Nasdaq: SNDA).

Hackers brazenly posted sensitive information including home addresses and phone numbers for 1,200 eBay users to the official online forum dedicated to fraud prevention on the auction site.
The information - which also included user names and email, and possibly their credit card numbers and three-digit CVV2 numbers - was visible for more than an hour to anyone visiting the forum. The miscreants appeared to create a script that caused each user to log in and post information associated with the person who owned the account. The script spit out about 15 posts per minute, starting around 5:45 a.m. California time.
