games EPIC recently held an event in its HQ in North Carolina, during which a UT3 demo was given to invited members of the press. As might be expected in the Internet age, the demo was leaked.

There are not many details about this demo, but seeing a download size of only 741 MB, somewhat of a rarity in today’s world of multi-GB downloads per demo.

The demo contains two multiplayer modes (DM a Vehicle CTF) and three maps (HeatRay, DM ShangriLa, Suspense). Maximum texture quality can be set to “NORMAL” (because of the filesize).

nvidia_logo-thumb The launch date of nVidia’s upcoming GeForce 8800 GT (G92) GPU is brought to October 29 from the original November 12, targeting AMD’s new Radeon HD 2950PRO (RV670) as the major competitor.

With G92 and RV670 having a tight performance/price ratio, Nvidia’s earlier launch should give the company an advantage in the market, noted the sources.

In addition to G92, Nvidia will also launch the G98 GPU to replace the GeForce 8600 series, however the launch date has not yet been set, added the sources.

The new G92 is the first to transition to 65nm transistors, and will support PCIe 2.0, featuring 112 stream processors and 256bit memory interface. The G92 is supposed to replace the EOL 8800GTS 320MB.

Another geeky prank from MIT.

Back in 1999, Massachusetts Institute of Technology students decorated the campus’ Great Dome to look like Star Wars robot R2D2 in celebration of the legendary film series’ first prequel in 1999. But Star Wars prequels are so last decade. These days, it’s all about the much-hyped Xbox 360 title Halo 3. And why prank your own campus when you can pull a fast one on those snotty Crimsons next door?

games In a bizarre move Aurora Technology the owners of the King of the World MMORPG has taken the unusual step of banning men who play women characters but the ban itself does not stretch to women playing men.

If you want to play as a woman now in game you have to prove you are a women via web cam. This is something that people ask for in many mmorpgs I myself have seen people say people who play women in EVE online as being some kind of degenerate but how long can a policy of verification by web cam last since its so easy to get around it doesn’t seem to solve much and is an insult to many.”

Aurora Technology is a subsidiary of Shanda (Nasdaq: SNDA).
